What We Do: New Construction

A large majority of new homes being built today include hardwood throughout the main living areas. When deciding what areas of your home should be hardwood, we recommend you consider the traffic flow throughout your home. In order to create an open feeling, you will want to minimize the number of flooring changes visual to the eye. Most commonly the areas included are: entry, walkway, gallery, ½ bath, kitchen, dining & breakfast. These areas are high traffic and are best served with a hard surface option.

More frequently home owners are installing hardwood in the great room and office areas. Texture and color are easily achieved through the use of area rugs, bright paints and fabrics. In addition, hardwood is extended through the master suite and children’s bedrooms, especially if any member of the family experiences breathing problems or allergies.

We normally install hardwood right after the drywall is sprayed. It is critical that all hardwood acclimate to the current temperature & moisture level of the home, so it will be necessary to have a controlled environment at this time. We will need to deliver your hardwood 2-14 days prior to installation, depending on the season & width. The hardwood must be placed inside the home, not in the garage or basement.

The wood is then installed and the remaining construction of the home is finished on top of the kiln dried flooring. The sanding and finishing of the floor will happen very close to your scheduled move in date. Depending on the finish option you choose, we will need two days to complete the finishing process. We use dustless sanding which minimizes any final clean-up.
